Subtle Spectacle

While being amazed by creepy-cool figures in one of the main galleries at Mass MoCA (see March 27 post Automatons), I'd totally missed the fresh work in a newly renovated gallery that is tucked up and away from the hubbub. The artist is Spencer Finch, and the piece, conceived specially for the space, is titled "Cosmic Latte." The title refers to research that says that the color of the universe is more beige than blue. The piece has a quiet and pleasing effect. If I could live in the museum, this would be my room.
