Inner Debate

In the face of potential ridicule, I'm still gonna say it: the 1983 movie "Risky Business" is brilliant. Here's one of the reasons why - one scene early in the movie is a conversation between Joel (Tom Cruise) and his best friend Miles (Curtis Armstrong). This conversation is a pitch perfect example of the moral debate that plays out in my head when faced with nearly every decision, big or small. It is the proverbial angel and devil sitting on the shoulder. Strip away the 80's camp, and any preconceived notions of the plot, and this conversation becomes profound.

What's this have to do with inspiration or art making? Being an artist and general creative type involves a lot of self doubt. Watching this scene again now and then reminds me that it can be beneficial to set those doubts aside.
