Purpose

That element that pushes work out of hobby into vocation, that drives diligence through the slow days and frustration. That thing that instills focus on the work to be done, and makes that work worth doing. Purpose. Seeking it feels vastly different than hunting for inspiration. As the artifacts and images that inspire and excite pile up, as I sort them into boxes and file-folders with pithy labels, what, I wonder, is it all leading to? As an old teacher recently said, in so many words: knowing how to put the different pieces together is the hardest part.

Note to self: Keep working. Keep writing. Keep looking. Keep making.
